TRAVEL // BEST ISLANDS TO VISIT IN CROATIA

In my previous blog, I told you about my sailing trip in Croatia. All the things I have seen and all the things I did. Today I want to tell you something more about Croatia and all the island that I have visited. Croatia is so beautiful.
I loved all the islands! However, for this article, I want to sum up my top 3 favorite islands to visit when you are in Croatia or have to opportunity to sail around in Croatia.

1. HVAR ISLAND

The island of Hvar is located in the Adriatic Sea off the Dalmatian coast. It is the sunniest spot in Croatia with more than 2700 sunny hours each year and it is well known as the most luxurious beach destination. In the high season, you can spot many international celebrities here. For example… Me… just kidding ;-)
Anyways the old town gorgeous! It has pretty hotels, elegant restaurants, at the marina you will see a lot of posh yachties and at night hundreds of young party people are dancing in all the legendary beach bars.

You can also find the best views. If you go a little bit up you can find this spot where I am sitting in this picture. You will see a beautiful view all over Hvars old town which is so breathtaking!!! Definitely, a must-visit island when you are in Croatia!

2. VIS

For a long time, this fishing island was Croatia best-kept secret, because there were no tourist allowed.
The island is the most remote island and is about 2,5 hours from Split by ferry. Now each year there are coming more tourist to see the island, Vis. The island is also popular by sailors and island hoppers. Fortunately, nature has not been affected by many tourists. It is still in the perfect state.

Sing and dance around the Island like the Mamma Mia movie. The island of Vis in Croatia is the film location of Mamma Mia 2! Huh?!! Mamma Mia, Here we go again! takes place in Greece right? Yes in the movie it looks like that it takes place in Greece, but in reality, it was all filmed on the beautiful Croatian Island Vis. Vis is just less tourist & cheaper to make a movie. However, it is as pretty as Greece. Or maybe prettier…
Vis is a very special island with an authentic vibe. Mamma Mia so beautiful. ;-)

3. Solta

Near the island of Brac, you can find a little but very developed island named Solta. Solta is less known, but certainly not less beautiful than the other Croatian islands. The island has many beautiful bays and inlets. The economy is based on agriculture, however, tourism has become very important. There are many old Roman ruins of old villas on the island.  Besides that, there are also some small churches that date from the middle ages.

And of course, there are also a lot of cute bars and amazing restaurants with the most breathtaking view of the marina. Cheers to Solta & cheers to the others islands!!
